One of the first questions many expectant mothers ask is when to book your maternity session. The timing is important — you want to feel comfortable, look radiant, and have that perfect baby bump to show off in your portraits.
If you've ever wondered when the best time is to schedule your maternity session, just know that you're not alone. As a Palm Beach Maternity Photographer, I hear this question all the time from expectant clients. While we can't control when your sweet precious one will make his or her appearance, of course, we can definitely aim for an ideal time that will be best for you and your glowing bump.
The Best Time
Most maternity sessions are scheduled between 28–34 weeks (about 7–8 months) into pregnancy. At this point, your bump is wonderfully round and visible, but you’re still comfortable enough to enjoy the session.
If you’re carrying multiples or have a high-risk pregnancy, we may schedule earlier to ensure we capture this special time before the baby arrives.
Why 7–8 Months Is the Sweet Spot
Bump Visibility: Your belly is beautifully pronounced
Comfort Level: You still have energy for poses and movement
Flexibility for Rescheduling: If baby decides to come early, we’ll still have captured your glow
Booking Early Has Benefits
I recommend reaching out as soon as you know your due date. This gives us time to secure your spot and choose a date that perfectly captures your beautiful baby bump. Booking several months ahead not only guarantees you a spot on my calendar, but it also gives you time to:

♥ Choose a meaningful location
♥ Coordinate schedules with your partner or family
♥ Add special touches like a gender reveal session (often around 16–20 weeks)

As soon as you know your due date! This ensures we have plenty of options for your session date.
What if my due date changes or I start showing earlier?
We can always adjust your date if needed. Life happens, and I’ll make sure we capture your pregnancy at its best.
Can I do a maternity session earlier than 7 months?
Yes, especially if you’re carrying multiples or have a specific milestone you want to document.
Do you offer maternity + newborn packages?
Yes! I offer 2 bundle packages (News To Newborn and Bump To Baby) that include maternity and newborn photos.
